Is it perimenopause… or is it just middle age?
possible signs that you may be going through perimenopause
Since perimenopause is a natural process, not a disease (only seems that way sometimes), I refer to these as possible signs rather than “symptoms.” But you know what I mean. A combination of these is going to be a stronger indicator. In isolation these can be a sign of something else, so ask your doctor.
Crazy intense, painful, long, heavy periods (but this may also be a sign of fibroids)
Irregular periods when you’ve always run like a Swiss watch
Intensified mood swings/irritability/bouts of rage
Sleep issues—trouble falling asleep, waking in the middle of the night or too early in the morning
Unexpected weight gain, especially around the midsection
Change in body odor
Inability to EVEN with your life and other people anymore
Depression, particularly if that’s never been a thing for you
AWOL sex drive
And yes, of course, hot flashes and night sweats
Remember, it’s often a combination of these. When in doubt, ask your doctor.
