Is it perimenopause… or is it just middle age?

possible signs that you may be going through perimenopause

Since perimenopause is a natural process, not a disease (only seems that way sometimes), I refer to these as possible signs rather than “symptoms.” But you know what I mean. A combination of these is going to be a stronger indicator. In isolation these can be a sign of something else, so ask your doctor.

  • Crazy intense, painful, long, heavy periods (but this may also be a sign of fibroids)

  • Irregular periods when you’ve always run like a Swiss watch

  • Intensified mood swings/irritability/bouts of rage

  • Sleep issues—trouble falling asleep, waking in the middle of the night or too early in the morning

  • Unexpected weight gain, especially around the midsection

  • Change in body odor

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Inability to EVEN with your life and other people anymore

  • Depression, particularly if that’s never been a thing for you

  • AWOL sex drive

  • Fatigue

  • And yes, of course, hot flashes and night sweats

Remember, it’s often a combination of these. When in doubt, ask your doctor.
